Sugar-Free Chocolate Chips in a Pinch!
Ever find yourself itching to make a recipe that calls for chocolate chips only to find you’ve run out? Or maybe you are in the grocery store looking for keto chocolate chips and you just can’t find any- this happens to me all the time! It always seems to be the case when I am really craving a chocolate keto treat too…
In addition, I’m forgetful, to say the least. I never take the chance to stock up on sugar-free chocolate chips when I have the chance and then find myself scrambling to find them. I also like to do things last minute. I can’t count the number of times I’ve left dinner frozen until last minute. Good thing there are microwaves to help me out! Lists are also my saviors, and if I don’t write something down, I’ll likely forget to do it. It’s just the way I am!
So, between being forgetful, putting things off until the last minute and also the scarcity of good low carb chocolate chips in my local grocery store, I decided that I needed to learn how to make sugar free chocolate chips so that anytime I had a craving for chocolate, I could quickly satisfy it!

I purchased these silicone pot holders when I realized they’d be the perfect molds for sugar-free chocolate chips! Aren’t kitchen tools that are multi-use amazing? I’ve seen a few pins on Pinterest on how to make these sugar free chocolate chips with similar molds so I decided to give it a try. It was an experiment at first and needed to be tested, mainly the recipe itself. I have found that almost all the recipes I make start as experiments- that’s the best way to learn!
I used my favorite Low Carb Chocolate Bar recipe (watch the video!) as the chocolate chip batter. These I always make sure to have on hand and I actually order them in bulk. They are perfect for snacking on and only have a few carbs in each serving- they are a great, easy dessert or afternoon treat.
After pouring the chocolate into my make-shift mold, I let my chips cool and then popped them right out. The flexible silicone makes it easy to get the chips cleanly out of the mold. While they looked perfect, I postponed publishing the recipe until I used the chips to make sure they stood up well to baking.
Spoiler alert: they did.
Feel free to try our Low Carb Mug Cookie with these homemade chips! You will never need to search the grocery store for sugar-free chocolate chips again! These are the perfect answer. And, it is kind of fun to make your own chocolate chips!
