I never see olives mentioned. Olives make a delicious snack! No carbs and guess what’s in olives…Olive oil! I love black olives. My current fave are the giant green olives stuffed with fresh garlic cloves.
Is their a way to easily decide while shopping if I’m making a good choice? For instance 10 g of sugar or less ok?
You shouldn’t be eating anything with added sugar. Naturally occurring sugar is more acceptable, but if you’re being strictly keto, you should avoid it altogether. It really depends on how strict you are and your daily macro allowance. Have you checked out our Macro Calculator yet? It’ll tell you how many carbs you can eat per day based on your weight, activity levels, etc. It’s a good starting point before reading nutrition labels 🙂
I am a mother of two little ones (5yrs and 2 yrs), and a concert pianist. So any “free” time I have is being a mom and rehearsing alot. Even though I am sitting when playing, there is alot of overall energy expenditure mentally and physically I think as well, since I do come out sweaty from rehearsals. Although I know exercising is for health, not just weight loss, it really is challenging to find the time especially when preparing before concerts. Is it still possible with this lifestyle to lose weight by doing keto and no strict workouts?
Absolutely! Many people see results even without working out. Keep your carbs low and eat enough fat to keep you energized.
carolina – I started Keto after breaking my knee and the doctor ordered no weight or avoidable preassure on my leg for 2 months. I lost 40 lbs, several inches in my waist, felt good, had beeter clarity of mind (despite the pain meds). For me, the ketogenic diet is beyond perfect, but it may not be for everyone
Thanks for this article
What is the snack item at the top of the page to the left of the quest bars? They look like white chocolate Reese’s peanut butter cups.
Here they are! 🙂
I was recent asked by my doctor to go on a high fat, 40 carb a day diet, what is the high end on the fat, he gave no number and he said nothing low fat…. so what do you figure the high number on fat and he gave no numbers on the protein, just the carbs
thanks!
You’ll need to use our keto calculator to figure out how many calories you need to eat daily (and how many grams of fat and protein). https://www.tasteaholics.com/keto-calculator/
the app Carb Manager does the calculations for you and works great highly recommend helped me get started at the beginning good luck!
Are you going to add a snack section to the app?
We may add it in the future. We’re trying to add a macro tracker currently! 🙂
Hi Vicky…
I seem to be out of fats and carbs by the end of the day…are there any protein snacks that are almost nil in fat and carbs.
thank you 🙂
Most meats are low carb! You can enjoy cold cuts (though, check the ingredients as sugar is often added), jerky, protein shakes made with low carb protein powder, pork rinds & beef sticks to name a few.
What are some good keto lunches and snacks to bring to work?
Any of these low carb snacks would be perfect to bring to work! You can also check out our Lunch in Five cookbook, which contains 30 low carb lunch recipes you can bring with you to work!
HHow is Hummus a keto snack? That stuff is loaded in carbs.
Each tablespoon (15 grams) is only 1 net carb. Alright in moderation!
Thanks for the list. I am starting a ketogenic blog too, and I will read more through your blog to learn. 🙂
That’s great! Best of luck 🙂
Easiest dessert EVER: Heavy cream…whip it up in a bowl and just about the time it looks like whipped cream, drop in a half package of sugar free pudding mix and mix until it’s all mixed in. Refrigerate and spoon into mouth as needed. Kills the sweet tooth without killing the carb intake.
Sounds amazing!
I am just starting a keto diet, and sugar is my downfall. THANK YOU so much for this!!!
Favorite afternoon snack lately: Cream cheese flavored with some garlic powder, parsley or oregano and a tiny bit of onion powder on top of a green bell pepper slice with a small piece of bacon or salami on top. Yum!
Powder or liquid Stevie extract is probably a better idea than artificial sweeters.
Can i eat coconut as snack?
Coconut is keto friendly. I’d watch the carbs in the meat though, everything in moderation!
Pickles and cheddar….don’t know why…but the combo is amazing! Or frozen berries, 2oz cream cheese, one tablespoon sour cream, splenda and vanilla extract. Mixed up with a fork til smooth. Yummm
Sounds amazing! We’ll try that second one 🙂
Celery and Cream Cheese?
Love it!
