Slow and Steady!
Our slow cooker has definitely been a worthy addition to our kitchen arsenal. We got it after finally deciding it’s been way too long into our food blogging careers (can we call this a career?) for us not to have made any slow cooker recipes. Since it’s acceptance into our home, we used it to make some extra tasty recipes. We’re huge fans of the way our meat of choice comes out delicate, moist, and effortlessly shredded.
Our recipe for Keto Pulled Pork Tacos was a huge hit, online and offline. Our hungry friends gobbled those things up like they weren’t over 400 calories each. Somehow, when something tastes so good, your stomach can forgive the swelling it’s experiencing.
This time around, we opted for a beefy recipe for a simple, delicious burrito. The recipe for the slow cooker remained similar, with only a few alterations. We used a variety of different spices to create a smoky, deep flavor and, of course, a great sugar-free BBQ sauce. If you haven’t heard of Walden Farms, where have you been? They make a range of sugar-free products from pancakes syrups to BBQ sauces to peanut buttery spreads. These sauces are also fat-free, calorie-free, and, sometimes, full of some weird ingredients.

Walden Farms BBQ Sauce is a relatively good option when you’re looking for a sugar-free alternative to traditional BBQ sauce. We don’t indulge in Keto Slow Cooker BBQ Beef Burritos often, but we like to keep a bottle in the fridge for the few occasions we do. Everything in moderation!

Servings: people |
- 2 lbs top sirloin steak
- 2 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground chipotle pepper (optional)
- 1/2 white onion (roughly chopped)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 cup Walden Farms BBQ Sauce
- 8 low carb wraps (Tumaro's, Mission, Trader Joe's, etc.)
- 1.5 cups cole slaw salad mix
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise (we used a Chipotle Mayo)
- To make the Slow Cooker Beef, dry your top sirloin steak with paper towels and score along all the sides.
- Combine all the seasonings in a small bowl and sprinkle evenly onto the steak, making sure to get into all the crevices.
- Add the white onion and garlic into the slow cooker. Place the steak in and add the chicken broth and bay leaves. Leave to cook on low for 8 hours.
- Once the steak is cooked, remove it and strain the liquid out. Add the white onion, garlic and beef back into the slow cooker and gently shred it using two forks or meat claws.
- Add a cup of Walden Farms BBQ Sauce and mix to combine everything well.
- To assemble the burritos, add some of the Slow Cooker Beef mixture to a low carb wrap (we used Tumaro's Low in Carb Wraps). Add a small handful of cole slaw salad mix and a squirt of mayonnaise. Wrap it up and enjoy!
- Note: this recipe makes 8 burritos or 2 per person.
