The most common way of using ACV is by ingesting it. You can also try rinsing your hair with it after shampooing, using it as a toner on your face before bed, swish it around in your mouth to whiten teeth, rub onto skin to heal a mild sunburn, the possibilities are endless! It is definitely an ingredient to have on hand for all kinds of scenarios.
Today, however, we’re drinking it! As this apple cider vinegar drink is pretty potent, we’re diluting it with warm water and some other beneficial ingredients. Sure, you could just drink apple cider vinegar straight out of the bottle but that would be a very harsh way to start your day. It is much more enjoyable to make our morning detox tea.
To make our detox tea, simply warm up some water and mix in all your ingredients together in your mug. We recommend using a microwave-safe mug in case you need to reheat your drink later on. Make sure to use fresh lemon juice (squeeze it yourself!) as it has the most health benefits and is much more potent when fresh. Adding cayenne is optional, but it’s what gives this drink it’s extra immunity-boosting powers. If you add just a dash, you won’t taste it much as the apple cider vinegar and lemon juice will overpower the spiciness of the cayenne. Give it a try as it really is an essential part of the detox tea!
This drink is sweet, tart and warming. I find it energizes and wakes me up at the first sip!
I’ve even started skipping my morning coffee and opting for morning detox tea instead. Of course, our Bulletproof coffee is still a favorite, but a good balance of ketogenic and paleo mornings does us good!
Servings: serving |
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp honey (or 1 tbsp of your favorite sweetener!)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 dash cayenne
- Combine all ingredients and stir.

When are you suppose to drink the mix and how many times a day.
Once a day, in the morning is fine!
So just do it one time a day, someone told me to do it three times a day and I have been using the bathroom like crazy. Is that to much to drink or is 2 times a day good
We recommend doing this only once a day.
Are you supposed to use regular kitchen spoons or measurement spoons
Use measuring spoons – they’re much easier and more accurate.
I drink this every morning with ginger in stead of cinnamon. Can i do both or rotate the two on a weekly bases. Also after i drink the ACV, i drink a cup of coffee, is it ok or should i drop the coffee lol.
You can do both, ginger is a great addition to this drink. We don’t have any issue with drinking coffee! If it helps you get through the morning, go for it.
Can you use the bottle lemon juice

You’re right, Zee. This recipe is not keto. It was one of our first posted on Tasteaholics. If you sweeten it with stevia instead of honey you can get something that’ll work for keto!
Can I prep this for days at a time or do I have to prepare it daily?
Prepping daily would be best! The lemon juice has a tendency to turn too sour if left over night.
I’m just starting this apple cider vinegar tea this is my first day March 23rd 2017 I’m going to give it a month and see what going to happen been having a very hard time losing weight so I will drink it in the morning and right before going to bed. I will definitely let you all know
Does this help lower blood sugar?
Cinnamon has been shown to help stabilize blood sugar!
The recipe doesn’t mention the tea you use. Would a tea with cinnamon give the same benefit as putting in the cinnamon so it wouldn’t be gritty. Is there a good herbal tea to use?
This recipe doesn’t use actual tea, it makes a tea! You can, of course, add any tea you’d like. Cinnamon tea sounds like a great idea 🙂

Definitely not! Cut back on the apple cider vinegar 🙂
How long do you drink it

I started this on Monday and while I enjoy the taste, I had to cut back on the cinnamon. It will not dissolve, leaving the drink extremely gritty and difficult to finish. I’ve tried different temps for the drink and that hasn’t help. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Hi Dana, the cinnamon never really dissolves, it’s not a liquid! You simply keep stirring to help distribute it evenly in the drink. Hope that helps!
I actually put mine in a blender bottle and shake it up. It helps mix it in a bit better.

I would stick to once or twice daily. Too much apple cider vinegar can be harmful to tooth enamel!
