Start your morning right, every day with Detox Tea!
Sweet, tart and detoxifying, this “tea” refreshes you and provides some awesome benefits! The main ingredient is organic apple cider vinegar (ACV) and it packs a punch! It aids in weight loss, helps control blood sugar, boosts energy, improves immunity, metabolism, digestion, acne, hair, breath and more! Read about more benefits and sources here! It really is a super-food to keep in your pantry.
Many people attribute the benefits of apple cider vinegar to the “mother” which is a pretty creepy name for the strand-like chains of protein enzyme molecules floating around making the liquid look cloudy. This is found in ACV that is unfiltered and is actually part of what makes the vinegar acidic. No studies have proven that the mother is the part of the AV that is so beneficial, so whether you have a bottle with or without the “mother” fear not, you will only gain from giving this ingredient a try.

The most common way of using ACV is by ingesting it. You can also try rinsing your hair with it after shampooing, using it as a toner on your face before bed, swish it around in your mouth to whiten teeth, rub onto skin to heal a mild sunburn, the possibilities are endless! It is definitely an ingredient to have on hand for all kinds of scenarios.
Today, however, we’re drinking it! As this apple cider vinegar drink is pretty potent, we’re diluting it with warm water and some other beneficial ingredients. Sure, you could just drink apple cider vinegar straight out of the bottle but that would be a very harsh way to start your day. It is much more enjoyable to make our morning detox tea.
To make our detox tea, simply warm up some water and mix in all your ingredients together in your mug. We recommend using a microwave-safe mug in case you need to reheat your drink later on. Make sure to use fresh lemon juice (squeeze it yourself!) as it has the most health benefits and is much more potent when fresh. Adding cayenne is optional, but it’s what gives this drink it’s extra immunity-boosting powers. If you add just a dash, you won’t taste it much as the apple cider vinegar and lemon juice will overpower the spiciness of the cayenne. Give it a try as it really is an essential part of the detox tea!
This drink is sweet, tart and warming. I find it energizes and wakes me up at the first sip!
I’ve even started skipping my morning coffee and opting for morning detox tea instead. Of course, our Bulletproof coffee is still a favorite, but a good balance of ketogenic and paleo mornings does us good!

Can this substitute for breakfast?
It’s not very high in calories so you’ll be quite hungry.
I’m finding the cinnamon a bit sickly can I leave it out or not I’m trying to lose weight
Yes, go for it!
Can i drink this in the evening
Absolutely!
So Day 1 of drinking thus abd tbh it wasn’t that bad ?? I don’t drink caffeine so it’s easy for me to skip a morning tea or coffee. Tasted quite nice, sweet, but if it benefits me I will continue !!!!
Made it this morning and found it to be delicious!! I popped it in my ninja blender to make sure the cinnamon dissolved well and it worked great!
Ground Cinnamon never seems to really dissolve…if the grounds are left in the bottom of the mug after I’m done drinking am I still getting the full benefit or do I need to make more of an attempt to ingest them? How would replacing the ground cinnamon with a cinnamon stick change the benefit factor? Less effective? the same?
Cinnamon will never dissolve as it’s not a liquid, but a spice (actually a bark!). Give the tea a stir while drinking it to make sure you’re ingesting the cinnamon. Using a stick of cinnamon would flavor the tea but not really give you as many benefits.
I used to drink this every morning but lately have been drinking keto coffee, with grass fed butter (I know it calls for ghee but I have a ton of kerrygold to use), MCT oil, raw cacao, pink salt. …..if I drink both in a day, which some come first? The high dose of fats in the coffee or the ACV to start burning fat?
Thanks for any insight.
Hi can I drink this cold with ice? Just wondering why the water has to be warm?
Warm water is a little gentler on your groggy morning body, but if you prefer iced, go for it! It’s still just as tasty.
Can I make this keto-friendly and omit the honey?
For sure, we recommend stevia for a keto friendly version!
How much stevia would be the right amount if you substitute?
Just a few drops would do it!
I’m wanting to switch from the pot of coffee I drink every morning to something healthier. I thought this might be a good alternative. Would it be a bad idea to drink 8 cups of this throughout the morning? I start drinking water at lunchtime – but until then it’s coffee all morning. I just don’t know if I can cold turkey get away from coffee without a nice warm substitute for a while at least, and I don’t want all regular tea in the morning.
I would only drink 1-2 of these in one day. The apple cider vinegar can be harsh in large amounts.
Hello Phase off the coffee, don’t go cold turkey. You may go through withdrawls, severe headache for example.
Do you need to eat less or go on a special diet and exercise while drinking this i want to try so bad but scared that it will be too strong or nasty to drink.
Most people, myself included, find this drink rather refreshing. If there’s a flavor that’s too strong for you, feel free to use less of it next time you make it!
Hi can i use black pepper instead of red pepper which is mentioned here
No, I would stick with cayenne pepper in this one. The taste is much weaker and it contributes only a small amount of heat. If you like, you can omit the pepper entirely!
