L’isola makes an out-of-this-world, thin-crust pizza that sees no rival in north Brooklyn. Every pizza is made in less than 10 minutes in a wood-fired oven, allowing the ingredients to stay as fresh and delicious as possible. There is no secret other than perfect craftsmanship every step of the way.

Let’s break their pizza down:

  • Their oven is wood-fired, which means a high temperature (600-800 degrees) and 6-8 minutes of total bake time.
  • The thin crust gives the ingredients that much more flavor and space to shine (and lets you eat so many more slices without filling up!).
  • Their chunky, garlicky pizza sauce is simply delicious. They don’t add too little or too much, creating just the right balance.
  • Slices of fresh mozzarella means the whole pizza isn’t covered in cheese, giving the other ingredients space and keeps a cheesy equilibrium.
  • The ingredients are extremely fresh and stay that way because of the short bake time.

Their signature pizzas are extremely delicious. We tried the classic Margherita and the spicy Purgatorio and were simply in awe at how delicious each bite was.

The Purgatorio pizza is a Margherita pizza topped with spicy capicola and hot cherry peppers. If you love spicy, this is absolutely the pizza for you. We’ve had it a dozen times and will have it a dozen more!

If you’re in the neighborhood in Williamsburg, make sure you drop by. Warning: You may get upset eating other pizza after trying L’isola!
